Peakwalking .. the original online guide to walking in England's Peak District |
It was on a crisp Saturday morning one November. The day was clear and bright , so I decided to get the bus to Bamford turnaround and get the shuttle bus to Kings tree.
I set off across slippery stones with my faithful and happy Staffordshire bull terrier Jack who loves the peak as much as I do. After an hour or so we could see Howden Clough and after a fairly steep climb we reached the edge. The view was truly magnificent!
Eventually we made our way down the cut-gate track through Cranberry Clough, a most beautiful steep sided valley. The colours were a sight to behold! Auburn grasses and golden leaves besides gurgling streams. Me and Jack only saw one other person up there that day, it will always stay with me how wonderful walking in the upper Derwent valley can be.
